When Japanese farmers first tried the trick of adding toasted rice to their tea, they soon realised that the springlike taste of steamed green tea was a surprisingly good match for crispy, roasted flavours. Popped pieces of toasted rice, popcorn, and Genmaicha tend to be a hit with anyone fond of the slightly savoury taste the Japanese call 'umami'. Our Genmaicha is added with a hint of caramel, ideal as a flavoursome energy boost.
